Stress, stress, stress… and sadness

This holiday season has been an incredibly hard time for me.  Mostly because AJ has been gone, not only for all the holidays, but also for our first anniversary, which was yesterday, but for other reasons as well.

For one, I transferred to a new command.  With that comes another problem, when I moved into the barracks I was told that I should move out ASAP since I’m married I’m not actually entitled to having a barracks room.  Once I checked in with PSD, I was told that I didn’t need to route a chit, that I simply needed to bring in a copy of my lease and the form stating that I had check out of the barracks.  So I return to PSD, both in hand, and I’m told that because my husband is military as well, I do have to route a chit, and unless the barracks are full, I will most likely be denied.  Previously it didn’t matter if I was married mil-to-mil, simply that I’m married, and now it does.  And I’ve already gone through the trouble of finding an apartment and gIetting everything ready to move in!!  I even moved out of the barracks, so I no longer have a place to live until I get moved in, but I can’t afford to have the apartment without getting BAH.  So I’m kinda stuck… Thanks PSD and CBH, thanks for all the ‘help’.

All that happened the day I went on leave for Christmas/New Years.  Talk about unneeded stress added to an already stressful holiday season.  If the people who were there to help had the same information, maybe they wouldn’t have problems like this.  Of course, this is the nave we’re talking about.

AJ is due back sometime in March, and I’m really looking forward to it.  Unfortunately, I’m set to deploy in July/August, and they will be going to Bremerton, Wa for 16 months of maintenance, then changing home ports to Everett, Washington for at least 3 years.  What that boils down to is: On our 2nd anniversary, we will have spend less than a year’s worth of time together, plus we’ll be stationed 1300 miles for at least 2 or 3 years.  So for the next 4 years I’m just going to have to keep telling myself “I love my husband, I love my husband, I love my husband.”

Oh did I mention I didn’t even get to talk to him on our anniversary?

AJ being back and other ramblings

Hubby has been home about two weeks now, and its been great!  Although, and I never thought I’d say this, its been kinda hard to get used to being around each other a bit.  I guess that is somewhat expected considering we’ve been apart more of our marriage then we’ve been together.  We’ve done a bit of arguing and getting on each other’s nerves, but nothing an I love you or a kiss didn’t take care of!

He has to report to TPU on Monday, so he’ll actually be working (somewhat).  After that we’ll find out when he actually get flown out to his ship… or if we’re really lucky, we’ll find out he doesn’t!  I’m not getting my hopes up since they’re still out for around 3 months (give or take).  If he stays, we’re gonna start house hunting… or at least apartment hunting!  I can’t wait! If he does get sent out, we’re gonna find a place as soon as he gets back.  I’m really hoping he’ll be here long enough so we can find a place and get BAH, that way we have a home for him to come back to!

I just started my 3rd module in class.  I’ve taken two tests and done fairly well.  I got a 90 on the first, which was over Cisco, the second, which was Windows Server 2003, I made a 82.  We’re working on Windows Server 2003 Infrastructure now, and our test is on Wednesday.  This class is going by so fast!  October is going by extremely fast.  Before long I’ll be reporting to my command.  I’m hoping I’ll get a bit of time off for Thanksgiving and Christmas, especially if AJ is still here!  I’m really hoping we don’t end up having to miss all of our first holidays as husband and wife… especially our first anniversary.

Speaking of which, I need  to figure out what I’m gonna get him!  Since the first anniversary is traditionally the paper anniversary, I’m clueless!  I really wanted to get him something to remind him of me, something that included love and protection symbolism, that he could keep close to him at all times. I’m thinking maybe of doing a traditional paper gift, and then another that is more along those lines. Any ideas?!  I’d love to hear them!

He’s coming home!

I’m very excited right now, and I can barely sit still! My hands are starting to shake a bit, I have butterfly’s in my stomach, and my heart is pounding.  I’m doing everything  I can to keep myself busy, and to make time pass faster (including laundry, which I HATE).  So why am I so excited?  My AJ is coming back!

He left Florida at about 10:45 CST, and has only stopped for about 4 hours to get some rest.  He will be here, if my math is right, in about 1 1/2- 2 hours! I haven’t seen him for three months, so I’m so excited I can’t control myself.  My poor tired husband will get attacked when he comes to pick me up.

Amazingly, not only did he get 6 days to travel, he also got 12 days of leave!  So I get to keep him for almost 3 weeks!  Or maybe at least three weeks! I hope he doesn’t get flown out too soon after he reports to TPU, I want him to stay here as long as possible!

We’re planning to get a hotel on the weekends, and he is going to stay with me during the week (when I have class) since he doesn’t have a room until he reports.

I’m sooooo excited! Jumps up and down.

Time simply isn’t passing fast enough! Although I shouldn’t complain considering I wasn’t expecting him til Sunday evening.  He is also coming on  weekend I don’t have to work today and Monday, so the timing is perfect!

I don’t know what to do with myself at all!  I need a way to make the time fass paster… er pass faster!

Been Busy: Graduation, Work, and Photoshop

Whew! It’s been a long couple weeks! I finally finished my first C school, so technically I’m a ISM tech.  That makes me extremely happy! I have one more class, and then I’m off to my command.  It starts on the 5th, and I graduate November 24th.  I report to my command the next day, which just happens to be the day before Thanksgiving.

Also, my husband will be coming back in about 2 weeks!  I can’t wait for that!  Even though he won’t be here long before he gets flown out to his ship, it’ll be nice to see him after so long. Speaking of my husband, I’ve b een married 9 months today!

Since I graduated my ISM class on the 18th, I’ve been TAD (Temporary Assigned Duty) to Facilities here at TSC.  It’s basically a lot of busy work. Cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, walking the parking lots, basically making sure everything looks good.  It’s easy though, the hardest work I’ve done since I started was painting a small office yesterday.  That probably took about 2 hours total. I managed to get paint and dust from sanding all over my coveralls though.

Other than work, I’ve been doing a bunch of… nothing. When I get home from work I don’t feel like doing much, and on the weekends I just want to be lazy.  Basically I’ve been getting on the internet and reading random stuff, and talking to my husband on Skype when possible.

Yesterday while looking at stuff about Photoshop and bad ‘shops, I found a website that actually made me feel a lot better about myself, and kinda boosted my self confidence a bit.  It’s a professional photo retouching company called iWANX STUDIO.  If you look at the portfolio it shows the before image and the image after retouching. If you click on the thumbnail you will see the retouched photo, and mousing over it reveals the original image.   Go check it out, you’ll see what I mean!
